Pittsburgh Pirates star third baseman Josh Harrison spent part of Thursday morning at the Sto-Ken-Rox Boys & Girls Club in McKees Rocks.
Harrison teamed up with Edgar Snyder & Associates and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania to open the doors to the newly remodeled Josh Harrison Learning Lab at the McKees Rocks branch.
“We can’t thank Josh enough for his support, because it really is his heart and his desire to want to see these children have the best opportunities in their lives,” said Todd Berkey, an attorney at Edgar Snyder & Associates.
Harrison grew up not too far from Pittsburgh, in Cincinnati.
“I didn’t grow up rich but I had what I needed,” Harrison said. “I just want to be able to give back to kids who may not have been in the situation that I had.”
The remodeled learning lab features posters of the Pirates star and an autographed jersey. There are also iPads and other learning technology for children to use at the branch.
